- Originally sentenced to 3 years in prison in 2015 by Urmia Criminal Court for illegally entering the country. In 2016 was charged with membership of the PKK and sentenced to 7 years by the Revolutionary Court of Urmia. In 2017 charged with carrying out an armed attack at a checkpoint in Erbil in 2006. He was sentenced to death 22/6/2017. His lawyers believe that this was in error and was meant for another man named Kamal, Kamal Sur, who was sentenced to death in absentia. They say that this Kamal Solo was not in the country at the time of the alleged murders. On 16/7/2020 he was released from prison after Amnesty International issued a statement.
