Death sentence commuted to five years in 2017 after being acquitted of murder (5 years for theft of mobile phone), repatriated 2018. Jennifer Dalquez was was found guilty and sentenced to death by an Abu Dhabi court (Al Ain Court of First Instance) for stabbing to death her employer in 2014 after he threatened to kill her for refusing to have sex with him. Confirmed by Al Ain Court of Appeals. The Embassy, through its lawyers, immediately appealed the conviction and successfully had it overturned by a local court in 2017. Dalquez was subsequently ordered to be released.
